Phil Sanders Phil Sanders is currently the master Printer and Director or the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop in New York City, Phil considers himself a collaborative printer specializing in lithography, intaglio, and book arts. He received a BFA in Printmaking as well as a BA in Art Education from the University of Florida. Sanders studied printmaking through the Tamarind Institute of Lithography's Printer Training Program. Phil Sanders is the Director/Master Printer of the RBPMW. He was formerly a Master Printer for Universal Limited Art Editions (ULAE) and studied lithography at the Tamarind Institute. He has collaborated with a wide variety of artists including Jasper Johns, Terry Winters, Elizabeth Murray, Enrique Chagoya, Hung Liu, James Sienna, and Kiki Smith, to name a few. Sanders has taught at Stanford University as well as San Francisco State University. He has been professionally printing for the last eleven years at various print-workshops across the country. Sanders has shown his own work internationally and is versed in lithography, intaglio, photo-gravure, relief, and book-binding techniques. The Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop The Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop is committed to inspiring and fostering an artistic community of racial, ethnic and cultural diversity for the making of fine prints within an environment responsive to exploration, innovation and collaboration; and to promoting the global appreciation and understanding of the fine art print. Located in The Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts Studio Center, the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop (RBPMW) offers facilities for lithography, intaglio, relief, monoprint, photographic, and digital processes. The RBPMW Collection room houses the print archives for research and a small exhibition space. |
